Children within West Ruimveldt, East Ruimveldt and Princess Street, Lodge areas through their respective churches, the West Ruimveldt Wesleyan Church, Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre AOG and Bethel Gospel Hall were the lucky recipients of a brand-new kite.

According to Minister Ally, this initiative is one that brings smiles to the faces of the children as they celebrate the Easter holiday. She also advised them to always practice safety while flying their kites. “Fly your kites in open spaces, away from electrical wires.”

The minister called on the children to also encourage their peers to practice safe kite flying

The children were also educated, by the ministry’s probation and social service officer, on ways to safeguard themselves; what is considered appropriate in the eyes of the law and the persons (parents or guardians) they should turn to if they ever encounter abuse or feel threatened.

Representatives from the respective churches thanked the minister for taking the time to brighten the holiday for the children.
