Minister engages Region Six students, parents, and teachers as the new school year begins

Today Hon. Nicolette Henry, Minister of Education as well as Chief Education Officer Mr. Marcel Hutson and other education officials fanned out to schools nationwide as part of the traditional visits conducted on the first day of the new school year.

Minister Henry visited a number of schools in Region Six, East Berbice Corentyne to ensure that the education of the nation’s children is not interrupted.

Further, Minister Henry during her interactions thanked the Headteachers, teachers and trainee teachers for reporting for duty to serve the nation’s children and wished the students and pupils well as they embark on the new school year. During further interactions with parents were also thanked for ensuring that their children attend school from the beginning of the new school year.

The schools visited were Edinburgh Primary School, Overwinning Primary School, Tutorial Secondary School, New Amsterdam Multilateral School, Savannah Park Nursery School, Berbice Educational Institute, Vryman’s Erven Secondary School, Berbice High School, Canje Secondary School, J.C Chandisingh Secondary School, Port Mourant Secondary School, Corentyne Comprehensive High School, Manchester Secondary School and Skeldon Line Path Secondary.

Meanwhile, students of the West Demerara Secondary School, Region Three turned out in their numbers this morning, while parents ensured that their children were settled in on the first day back at school.
