Minister Lawrence meets Chinese Health Secretary Ma Xiaowei -discuss scholarships and exchange of medical professional skills

Minister of Public Health Volda Lawrence met with Minister and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the National Health Commission, Ma Xiaowei of the People’s Republic of China while in Geneva, Switzerland.

The two health officials met during the ongoing World Health Assembly to discuss the facilitating of scholarships for health education, the exchange of medical professional skills and technology and the exploration of programmes between the countries for better public health services.

They also discussed China’s continued support through the Chinese Medical Brigade and Guyana facilitating a wider range of specialised services through the team’s stint.

Minister Lawrence is expected to meet with other countries’ health officials as the World Health Assembly continues.
