Minister Trotman made the announcement during a call in programme on RCA television station in Charity, Region Two on Friday. The programme was part of the Ministry’s national outreach programme.

The government is very keen that every county, “has a right to participate” in the new industry. However the Minister cautioned that while not everyone will be able to directly benefit from the industry, “Certainly in Berbice, Demerara and Essequibo we have something to do with the oil and gas industry.”

To this effect, the Minister said he will be meeting with the business and commerce sectors in these counties to explain how business can participate in the oil and gas sector.  Minister Trotman highlighted that he will be meeting with Essequibo Chamber of Commerce in the coming week.
