Minister Vickram Bharrat and Staff express sincerest condolences to the relatives and friends of Donston John

The Minister of Natural Resources Hon. Vickram Bharrat and staff of the Ministry of Natural Resources offer sincerest condolences to the relatives and friends of Donston John, a 59-year-old miner who reportedly died in a mining pit at Konawaruk Backdam at Whitewater Mountain on September 9, 2020.

The Minister has since instructed the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission to work in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour for an urgent but thorough investigation of this matter. A report is to be compiled and submitted to the Minister upon completion.

The Ministry continues to encourage miners to comply with all protocols and guidelines in accordance with the Mining Act and regulations.
