Ministerial team to engage Rupununi residents

DPI, Guyana, Friday, September 27, 2019

Ministers of Government are currently in Region Nine Upper Takatu-Upper Essequibo to carry out a series of meetings in various communities in South-Central, South and North Rupununi.

The meetings scheduled for Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29 are intended to hear from residents about their concerns and have them addressed accordingly.

The ministerial team headed by Prime Minister, the Honourable Moses Nagamootoo, will meet with residents in villages including Annai, Apoteri, Crash Water and Semonie. Ministers will also address the concerns of residents in Kumu, Potarinau, Yupukari, Shulinab, Lethem and Parishara, among other villages.

The meetings in the Rupununi come a few months after a similar exercise was held in the very region. Those meetings at the start of this year, brought significant relief to residents, as a host of issues raised were addressed.

Among the successes then were the commissioning of several schools and smart classrooms and a legal aid clinic for Lethem. Other communities also had their concerns addressed by the 19 member-ministerial team. The government intends to continue to focus on the needs of all Guyanese, ensuring a ‘good life for all’.
