Ministry of Social Cohesion lead the way during Mash celebrations

─ 2019 Mash best year yet

DPI, Guyana, Saturday, February 23, 2019

The first band to make its way down Vlissengen Road on the Mash parade route was that of the Ministry of Social Cohesion, being led by Minister of Social Cohesion, Dr. George Norton.

The minister, just like the revellers, danced and waved the “golden arrowhead” to Soca music, putting on full display his true patriotism.

“I’m having a really good time, having fun with everyone … we are in Guyana we are getting the beautiful sunshine, hospitality, music … this is Mash!” says Minister Norton.

The Minister says on this Guyana’s 49th Republic Anniversary, the nation must be proud of its achievement.

In the meantime, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Alfred King, who led the Ministry’s band says this year has certainly been better.

“Today has been one of the better days, you see all the colour and splendour, all the diversity and the richness in terms of the culture that we possess,” said P.S King.

According to King the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs did extremely well last year in depicting flora and fauna and Guyana going green, this year though, the ministry went into a different direction, calling for unification, for everyone to come together for social cohesion.

Their theme was “Togetherness will keep Victory in Line”, working together on infrastructural development through collaboration and partnerships for an improved Guyana.

The Ministry of Public Health in 2019 celebrated its primary healthcare workers with a theme of “Accessible Health Care for All.

The bands made their way down Vlissengen Road en route to Durban Park sometime after lunch, a little later than usual, but nonetheless, revellers, as well as spectators, thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
