National Consultation on Draft Manufacturing Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Regulation

MINISTRY OF SOCIAL PROTECTION
The Ministry of Social Protection in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) will be holding a three-day National Consultation on draft Manufacturing Occupational Safety and Health Regulation from Tuesday 21st to Thursday 23rd June, 2016 at the Herdmanston Lodge, 65 Anira Street, Queenstown, Georgetown. The working sessions for this activity will commence at 8.30 am and conclude at 4.30 pm daily during this period.
The purpose of the consultation is to gain consensus on the Manufacturing Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Regulation that should be made under the Occupational Safety and Health Act Chapter 99:10 laws of Guyana.
This consultation will be funded by the International Labour Organization. Consequently Mr. Ariel Pino, Specialist Social Protection and Occupational Safety and Health and Dr. Shal Gewurtz, Consultant on Occupational Safety and Health from the International Labour Organization will provide technical support to this activity.
A number of companies and organizations within the manufacturing and public sectors have been invited to participate and they have since indicated their intention to do so.
The Consultation will be declared open at 9.00am on Tuesday 21st June 2016. Speakers at the opening session will include representatives from the Consultative Association of Guyanese Industry Ltd, the Guyana Trade Union Congress, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Guyana and the International Labour Organization.
