National COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force to meet tomorrow

Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony says the National COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force is hosting its first meeting on Friday.

Dr. Anthony said during Thursday’s COVID-19 update, said that the meeting’s agenda includes an introductory session and several presentations. The Task Force would also be updated on the status of vaccine procurement and deployment, which will guide its next steps.

The Task Force would be responsible for ensuring that Guyana is adequately prepared for the rollout of the vaccines.

“They will be looking at our preparedness, working on a vaccine preparedness plan working, on a rollout plan… making sure that all the sites where we’ll be doing vaccines would be ready and so forth. So that’s the kind of work that the oversight committee would have to make sure that all the elements, regarding the use of vaccines would be put in place.”

Guyana expects to receive an initial quota of COVID-19 vaccines through COVAX.
