New $29M Primary School for Kamarang

The community of Kamarang in the Cuyuni-Mazaruni region will benefit from a modern primary school, which is expected to be built at a cost of approximately $29Million. The project will be executed by B and S Contracting Services.

This was announced by Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, during his weekly post-cabinet press briefing, on Thursday. The school’s construction forms part of the Regional Administration’s 2018 capital projects.

Additionally, some 400 students of Paruima, Upper Mazaruni will soon begin classes in a newly constructed primary school. This project was executed at a cost of $20Million.

In the 2018 National Budget, the government allocated approximately$99.2Million to the Region Seven Administration for the delivery of education.

In addition to the construction of the Kamarang and Paruima schools, the amount also caters for the completion of teachers’ quarters at Bartica, construction of dormitory and sanitary block at Waramadong and the rehabilitation of dormitory at Bartica and enclosure of  the Karrau Creek Primary School.
