NGSA results to be available at the end of October

Chief Education Officer (CEO) Dr. Marcel Hutson says the 2021 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) results will be available by the end of October.

He made the announcement on Friday during a press conference at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD). Dr. Hutson said a decision was taken to give Grade Six teachers extra holiday to compensate them for their dedication during the last year.

“The Honourable Minister would have made a promise to those teachers who worked diligently during the vacation period and a promise was made to them and that promise will be kept. So, they will not until October 4….and so we have students who will be awaiting their results of the examination and those may not be out until somewhere around the end of October, but they too will be engaged by the various means.”

The NGSA was written on August 4 and 5.

Meanwhile, the Chief Education Officer announced that the Grades Two, Four and Nine assessments for the 2021/2022 academic year, will not be conducted.

“We have taken a stance that there is no point going in that direction because students have not been exposed [to learning] in the way we want them to be exposed,” Dr. Hutson said.

However, the 2022 NGSA has been scheduled for July 6 and 7.

Schools are set to be reopened on September 6 for face-to-face learning. A total of 92 schools will be opened fully while 846 will operate on a rotation basis.
