No new cases of COVID-19 recorded

ā€”40 tests conducted today

The Ministry of Public health has reported that there are no new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) recorded; as such the total number of confirmed cases remains at 153.

This amount is inclusive of 70 recoveries and 12 deaths.

Forty more tests were conducted just today alone. To date 1,658 persons have been tested for the virus with the number of negative cases being 1,505.

There are currently 71 active cases in isolation at various facilities across Guyana while 2 patients remain in the COVID-19 ICU at the GPHC.Ā  Twenty-three persons are also in institutional quarantine.

Citizens are asked to always practice social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out.

Meanwhile, the WHO has reported that globally the number of confirmed cases stands at 6,057,853confirmed cases with 371,166 deaths while in the Region of the Americas the total number of positive cases is 2,817,232 with deaths climbing to 160,514.
