One new COVID-19 case recorded- total now 159

—3 more persons recover

—7 tests conducted in last 24 hours

The Ministry of Public Health is reporting that as of June 12, 2020, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Guyana stands at 159.

This comes as another person has tested positive for the virus after seven tests were conducted within the last 24 hours.

The number of persons who have recuperated from illnesses related to the novel coronavirus has moved to 95 as the ministry is also reporting three more recoveries.

To date, the total number of persons tested for the COVID-19 is 1,927 with 1,768 of those yielding negative results. The country has recorded 12 deaths.

There are now 52 active cases are in isolation at various facilities across Guyana; one patient remains in the COVID-19 ICU at the GPHC and 20 persons in institutional quarantine

Persons are reminded to continue practising social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out.

As of June 12, 2020, the WHO has reported that globally the confirmed cases stand at 7,410,510 with 418,294 deaths. While in the Regions of the Americas, positive cases have reached 3,560,591 with a total of 192,944 deaths.
