Ophthalmic drugs shortage in Region 6 being addressed

Recent complaints from health care facilities in Region Six with regards a shortage of ophthalmology drugs are being addressed, and the situation will soon be rectified.

Director of Berbice Regional Health Services, Jeavoughn Stephens told the Government Information Agency (GINA), in a telephone interview that Minister within the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Karen Cummings has provided a supplier from which the region can source the needed medications.

He added that he has personally spoken with the supplier, Kevin Grundy, Managing Director of KGIBD International Business Development via email on Tuesday, and the medications will be shipped as soon as Monday, August 15.

Stephens further pointed that there are no other drug shortages in the Region.
