OPM donates to Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) today donated $100,000 to the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club in Region Six for the hosting for the second edition of the Green Economy Trophy and Patron’s Fund in observance of President David Granger 73rd birthday.

The Head of State is also the Patron of the Club.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Sports Club was Secretary of the Club, Hulbert Foster, while Administrative Officer, Anisha Ramzan and Chief of Staff, Omar Bissoon represented the Office of the Prime Minister.

It was highlighted that this year, in observance of the president’s birthday, the club hopes to donate $4Million in cycles, school uniforms, school bags and sports gear to less fortunate students as well as schools and clubs.

The distribution would be done in conjunction with the ‘B’ Division of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and the Ministry of Education. The two organisation will select the students, schools and clubs who would benefit, based on their economic status, performance level and their locations.

The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club is the only such organisation in the history of Guyana to have ever received a National Award – The Medal of Service. The club has also won the Guyana Cricket Club of the Year Award a record five times.
