Over 100 South Georgetown children get Christmas gifts

-as Min. Rodrigues visits the area 

Minister within Ministry of Housing and Water, Hon. Susan Rodrigues brought smiles to the faces of over 100 city youngsters when she and a team gathered at a Middle Road, La Penitence location to share toys.

Children from Middle Road, Sideline Dam, Yarrow Dam, Independence Boulevard and West La Penitence were delighted to receive the early Christmas presents.

Minister Rodrigues said she was happy to give back to the community.

“I am extremely proud of my roots and my groundings. I will never forget or forsake the community I came from and the people that helped raise me in this community, so I came back.”

Minister Rodrigues also said the initiative is the beginning of great things planned for Albouystown’s development.

This is just the first of many of my visits in my official capacity, to this community. There is going to be development to come to Middle Road and development to come to this community, and Sideline Dam and Yarrow Dam and so we have a lot things to look forward to in the coming months and years. I look forward to working with you, your cooperation and with good intentions we can lift this community together,” she said.

Assistant Treasurer of the Middle Road, Sideline Dam, Yarrow Dam, Independence Boulevard and West La Pentience Community Group, Ms. Shaleeza Shaw thanked the Minister and her team for the exercise.  She told the Minister that the community is ready and able to assist in its future development.
