Persons who leave region for training will return to serve

– Minister Hamilton

Minister of Labour, Hon. Joseph Hamilton has assured the Linden Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Development that residents who leave the Upper Demerara-Berbice (Region Ten) for training in other regions will return to serve in their hometown.

This will ensure that every region is staffed with the requisite qualified workers and reduce inequalities, the Minister said.

“My intention is that everything we do must be levelled in every region, so that Region 10 will get the same service as Region Four and any other region. We have also programmes for training in different areas, with some having already begun, and others will be expanded in the new year with the 2021 Budget,” Minister Hamilton said.

He also invited the Regional Democratic Council and Linden Town Council to recommend resource persons to the Ministry who possess the necessary skills to lead the different training programmes in the region.

The Ministry offers training in small engine repairs, solar panel technician, and information and communication technology.
