PM meets Qualfon’s President – raises possibility of company setting up an office in sugar belt

GEORGETOWN, Monday, December 18, 2017 – Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo today, received Mr. Abel Cruz, Group President for Qualfon, who is in Guyana for a year-end review of the company’s operations. He was accompanied by Mr. Shem Erskine; site Director for the company’s Plaisance operations.

Qualfon is the single largest call centre operations in Guyana and, according to Mr. Cruz; the company has about 2000 employees at its work offices at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, Providence, East Bank Demerara and, from Linden.

Mr. Cruz informed the Prime Minister that employees were being transported from Linden, Region Ten to the Plaisance site. Mr. Cruz said a call centre in the bauxite town is possible in the future.

Prime Minister Nagamootoo raised with Mr. Cruz the possibility of Qualfon’s operations being located in the sugar belt to provide jobs and training for young people.
