PM Nagamootoo calls for collaboration in COVID-19 fight

–encourages PPP/C to join National COVID-19 taskforce

“The fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) deserves a response of national unity.”

This was asserted by the Chairman of the National COVID-19 taskforce (NTCF) Prime Minister the Hon. Moses Nagamootoo today in a digital press conference.

The Prime Minister called for increased cooperation in the national fight against the novel coronavirus.

Noting that this is the time to lay aside personal and political differences in the interest of the health and safety of all Guyanese, he said if an urgent, proactive response is not taken to combat the virus, the Guyanese population will suffer.

Prime Minister Nagamootoo disclosed that he had dispatched a letter to the leader of the opposition Bharrat Jagdeo in hopes of promoting a joint effort against the public health emergency.

Meanwhile, the Civil Defense Commission is distributing much-needed supplies to families and communities across Guyana.  Other private and public stakeholders have also come on board to aid in the national fight against the global pandemic.

Globally, there are over 1 million persons infected with the novel coronavirus.
