DPI, Guyana, Saturday, August 31, 2019
Members of the La Parfaite Harmonie Community Policing Group (CPG) will now be able to effectively conduct patrols in the neighbourhood following the donation of 12 bicycles.
The bicycles were delivered by Prime Minister, Hon. Moses Nagamootoo and Director General of the Ministry of the Presidency, Joseph Harmon during a recent visit to the community. The presentation delivers on a promised made over two weeks ago after a request by Chairman of CPG Karl Taylor.
The bicycles will play a critical role in further curbing crime in the community that is home to over 20,000 residents. Currently, La Parfaite Harmonie has recorded a 27% decrease in criminal activity.
Additionally, the community will boast a police station which is slated to commissioned soon. These measures were welcomed by the residents who have to travel to the La Grange Police Station in times of emergencies.
Both the Prime Minister and Director-General noted that the Coalition Government is prepared to offer real solutions and work with residents and community leaders to resolve issues.
