PM Nagamootoo receives courtesy call from Medical Director of ISOS

The reputable, non-governmental International SOS (ISOS) will shortly set up a base in Guyana to provide medical services for ExxonMobil employees.

Dr Myles Neri, Medical Director of ISOS, paid a courtesy visit on Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo at the Office of the Prime Minister, on Thursday, August 30, to brief him on the scope of activities of ISOS.

Dr Neri disclosed that ISOS will be partnering with a Georgetown based health institution whose director is Dr Surendra Persaud, who accompanied him to the meeting along with Mr Mike Jackson.

Dr Neri explained to Prime Minister that ISOS is the world’s largest medical and travel security services firm. International SOS, he said, specialises in medical assistance, travel security advice and information, emergency services, healthcare and evacuation services.

International SOS, Dr Neri said, was solicited by ExxonMobil to carry out a study to verify whether services his company provides are relevant to Guyana. He said that once here, the company will partner with the Guyana health authorities in the local sector in specialised areas. International SOS operates from over 1,000 locations in 82 countries, with Guyana being their 83rd location.

Prime Minister Nagamootoo welcomed ISOS and expressed hope that the quality of their medical services could positively influence the delivery of quality public health in Guyana.
