Minister of State, Joseph Harmon has dismissed as a “blatant lie” Opposition Member of Parliament Anil Nandlall’s claim that Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo has no portfolio.
MP Nandlall was making his presentation during the budget debate today in the National Assembly. Minister Harmon said the Opposition’s ongoing disrespect towards the Prime Minister must not be condoned.
Prime Minister Nagamootoo, the State Minister noted, is a member of the Cabinet with the responsibility for Information.
“This is becoming a pattern with the PPP Members of Parliament, where they feel they can stand there with impunity, denigrate the Prime Minister and his office. I believe this has to be brought to an end,” he said.
The nation, Minister Harmon said, must be told of the level of disrespect being meted out to the Prime Minister by the Opposition MPs who hold themselves as “paragons of virtue.”
