President Ali assesses damage to Brickdam police station following fire

The Head of State commended the ranks of the GPF for their valiant efforts at ensuring there was no loss of service to the public, amidst the destruction and devastation caused by the fire which severally damaged the Regional Police Division 4 ‘A’ Headquarters at Brickdam, Georgetown yesterday.

However, President Ali said he was disappointed at the response by the Guyana Fire Service, at a time when the Government continues to equip the service with the necessary tools for an efficient operation.

The fire raging at the Brickdam Police Station on Saturday

Yesterday, a fire which began in the eastern building of the Brickdam Station spread to several other mainly wooden structures in the compound, despite the efforts of the members of the Guyana Fire Service to contain the blaze. The fire was subsequently brought under control, but only the western structure in the compound was saved.
