President Granger Guyana to attend EDD conference in Brussels

President David Granger will be attending the European Development Days (EDD) 2017 conference. The conference will be convened by the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium, from June 07 to08 2017. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Greenidge will be accompanying the President.

Minister of State, Joseph Harmon made this announcement at the post-Cabinet press briefing at the Ministry of the Presidency today.

Minister Harmon explained that the EDD 2017 will have as its main theme ‘Investing in Development’ with particular focus on the private sector, gender equality and youth. The themes are directly linked to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development number five  and the different topics highlighted during each session will provide insights into the most pressing issues facing global development.

The Conference will bring together leaders and decision makers to share analysis , shape best practices, map priorities and strengthen the synergies between the economic , social and environmental aspects of development, Minister Harmon said.

President David Granger will address the opening ceremony of the conference, participate in a high level panel discussion towards a new partnership with African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP)States, and address a special session of the ACP committee of Ambassadors.
