President’s College graduates urged to “transcend barriers”

– graduates urged “to stay focused” as the world is changing fast

DPI, Guyana, Thursday, November 1, 2018

Graduates of President’s College Class of 2018 were on Thursday evening challenged “to transcend barriers”.

This charge was made by Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, who is currently performing the duties of president, as he was delivering the feature addressed at the institution’s 28th graduation exercise.

PM Nagamootoo quoted Martin Luther King stating that “the most important thing to do after graduation is to keep moving.”

He advised the graduates “to stay focused” as the world is changing fast. The Prime Minister noted that with the developing oil and gas industry, opportunities will be presented.

“Today, I issue a challenge to you, to aim at helping to realise what we may have taken centuries to accomplish. You could do so, driven by knowledge in a faster time, and Guyana will no longer be seen as the mendicant of the world… We have a unique country and we need talented educated people to take it to that new higher stage of development.”

Prime Minister Nagamootoo congratulated the students on their achievements and reminded them to make their parents proud.
