Protocol building to be completed in 2018

DPI, GUYANA, Thursday, December 14, 2017

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ $5.57B current and capital expenditure estimates was approved today by the Committee of Supply.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Greenidge noted that monies will go towards the completion of the Protocol and Consular Affairs Department, formerly the Ramphal House.

The construction began in 2017 following the dismantling of the structure located on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive. The newly constructed building is intended to improve the accommodation and operational efficiency of the department.

Meanwhile, allocations have also been made for the construction of a Guyana Embassy in Brazil, a move that Opposition Chief Whip Gail Teixeira welcomed. Allocations are also provided for the procurement of vehicles, furniture and equipment for overseas missions and embassies.
