Reg. 4 NGSA top students honoured

Twelve students from Region 4, were recently awarded for their academic achievements after gaining placements at senior top schools in Guyana following the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) examinations.

The ceremony was held at the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) Region 4.

Regional Executive Officer (REdO), Pauline Lucas applauded the parents and teachers of the students for their hard work and the significant role they played in their children’s performance. Lucas encouraged them to continue giving their much-needed support to the students as they embarked on their journey of secondary education.

Lucas further advised the pupils to be consistent as they enter into this new chapter in their academic pursuits and not to be afraid to be competitive. According to Lucas, children should be rewarded for their efforts and hard work.

Many of the parents who were present at the ceremony acknowledged the necessity to be involved in their children’s academic lives and interests to gain results.

Meanwhile, Education Officer (Primary Division), Stembiso Grant had words of encouragement for those students who did not gain placement at the school of tier choice. ‘‘Regardless of what school you received, you can be anything you want to be’’.

Enkofi Moses, Devina Parbhu, and Stephenie Datta all gained 524 marks and were placed at Queen’s College, along with Aasyah Bacchus who gained 520 marks and Saraj Persaud who gained 519 marks.

Meanwhile, L-Dee Johnson who was awarded for the ‘Best Composition’ at this year’s examinations gained 513 marks and was placed at the Bishops’ High, along with Saskiyah Wilkinson who gained 518 marks.

Leno Ojha, Kayla Joseph, Justin Ramkaren, Kavish Somwaru, Christine Ramcharran all acquired 517 marks and were also awarded places at the Bishops’ High School.

The students were gifted school supplies, while three vouchers worth $15,000 each were distributed to the three top students. The tokens of appreciation were presented to the students for their outstanding achievement and to further motivate them to continue accomplishing great results in the future.
