Following its recent launch of the second Regional Agricultural and Commercial Exhibition (R.A.C.E), the Administration of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara has reported a positive response from interested persons.

Coordinator of the activity, Regional Executive Officer Jennifer Ferreira-Dougall noted that this year’s exhibition is shaping up to be bigger and brighter.

“Businesses and farmers are already contacting us for details and given the huge success of last year I am extremely optimistic that this year will be even bigger and brighter. Last year we had somewhere around 80 booths and I believe we will have more this year,” remarked Ferreira-Dougall.

According to the President of the Region Three, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Halim Khan, this year’s activity will see the participation of many businesses that were not on-board last year.

“After that successful exhibition last year many of the businesses that didn’t participate called and expressed an interest for the next time so I am happy to let them know that the next time is upon us and they should get registered earliest,” said Halim Khan.

Registration forms for businesses, farmers and any other interested entity can be uplifted at the Regional Administration Office – Local Government Office from Monday to Friday between the hours 08:30hrs to 15:00hrs. Deadline for registration is March 20, 2019.

This year’s exhibition being hosted under the theme “Sustaining Region Three in a Green Economy will be held at the Hydronie Play Ground on April 27 and includes a packed cultural programme

Regional Agricultural and Commercial Exhibitions (R.A.C.E) are geared towards empowering young and upcoming entrepreneurs by giving them an opportunity to showcase and promote their local businesses, particularly those which are involved in agro-processing. It also allows for networking among producers and consumers while improving and expanding trade opportunities within regions. The mission of RACE is to highlight the Guyanese potential to produce and to expose their products for purchase at home and abroad, and provide markets for farmers, traders and manufacturers.
