The Government continues to demonstrate its commitment to the education sector and reward those who excel.

During an outreach in Corentyne, Berbice earlier today, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo honoured three young ladies for their achievements at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examinations.

The teens all hailed from the Region Six area.

Darshanie Jadubir was the top performer for the East Berbice-Corentyne area with fifteen Grade Ones and one Grade Two.

Speaking to the Department of Public Information, the sixteen-year-old stated that while she prepared intensely, she was nonetheless surprised to have done so well at the examinations. “I really appreciate that the government has recognised us for the job that we have done,” Jadubir said. She received a laptop from the Office of the Prime Minister along with a gift certificate to Giftland Mall.

The other two awardees, Tanya Semple and Kerriann Fraser both received gift certificates to Giftland Mall for their outstanding achievements.

Both young women also expressed their gratitude to the government for recognising their achievements.

Kerriann Fraser lauded the government for their initiative as she opined that “it’s something good” as it will “motivate other students” to excel.

All three young ladies have plans to further their education in various fields and serve their country.

Jadubir told DPI that she is “currently pursuing a degree in Biology” with interest in a career in the medical field.

Tanya Semple stated that she is attending President’s College where she is preparing to write the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations next year. She is majoring in Environmental Science.

Fraser indicated that she plans to attend the University of Guyana next year and major in Economics. She disclosed that her goal is to pursue a career as an economist in the oil and gas sector.
