DPI, GUYANA, Thursday, May 03, 2018

As part of the Region Three administration’s effort to ensure accountability and transparency is maintained, Regional Executive Officer (REO), Denis Jaikaran, on April 30, visited ongoing projects in communities on the West Bank of Demerara.

Areas visited were Canal Number One and Goed Intent, where a bridge is being constructed in both communities. In Stanleytown, inspection was carried out at the ongoing revetment work in that community as well as in Bagotville, where there is a drainage and irrigation exercise.

The REO explained that his presence at the projects is simply to monitor the progress of the works undertaken. It also presents an opportunity to speak to the residents and to get their feedback on what can be done differently within their respective communities.

“We need to make sure that the services and improvements being provided to these communities are going according to what is outlined by administration…. So, I make myself available to evaluate the ongoing works and speak to residents to know whether there is any additional works that they want us to do for their benefit,” the REO said.

While he is satisfied with the progress of the works thus far, Jaikaran said he will continue to make assessment visits to check on the progress of these projects to ensure it is moving ahead.
