Region Three youths graduate from BIT training

DPI, Guyana, Tuesday, December 11, 2018.

Focused on delivering occupational and technical training to young people in various communities across the country the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) has provided technical tuition to one hundred and ninety-two youths at the Leonora Technical and Vocational Institute in Region Three.

At Monday’s graduation ceremony for the students, Vice Chairman for Region Three, Sheik Ayube said the Board of Industrial Training provides a second chance for a bright future and reminded the graduates that their contribution is necessary for the development of the country.

“… We must recognise that we need to share our skills with the community, society and the country at large…  BIT was established to create opportunities that will help you to develop skills in various fields. Therefore, because that opportunity was afforded to you, you must become responsible citizens and give back.”

Technical Officer for BIT, Devika Ramsawak, during her presentation of the Project report noted that this is the fourth year BIT has collaborated with the Leonora Technical and Vocational Institute to deliver programmes to youths in the region.

Regional Executive Officer, Dennis Jaikarran reminded the graduates to seek self-employment and to work on honing the right skills, knowledge and attitude in order to propel themselves forward He further noted the investment the instructors from Board of Industrial Training and Leonora Technical and Vocational have invested in the students.

Noting the efforts of these educators impart their knowledge and skill t the students, Jaikarran changed the graduates to follow their example and share their new-found knowledge and skills to others in their respective communities.

The graduates completed courses in Data Operation, General Office Administration, Motor Vehicle Servicing, Plumbing, Welding, Metal Work Engineering, Electrical Installation, Garment Construction, and Information Technology.
