DPI, Guyana, Monday, November 12, 2018

Persons in Rose Hall turned out this morning to cast their votes at their respective polling stations for Guyana’s Local Government Election (LGE). The polling stations, which opened at 6:00hrs today, are well prepared for a day full of voting.

Onica McPherson was the second person to cast her vote at the Rose Hall Primary. McPherson said casting her vote early in the morning meant a lot to her. She noted that voting at the LGE not only meant she was exercising her right as a citizen but also ensured she and others were given the opportunity to select the person they deemed most suited to develop their communities and the region as a whole.

Rosemaree Esther Huston, the Presiding Officer at the Rose Hall Primary School polling station, told the Department of Public Information that 375 persons are expected to cast their ballots at the station.

The Lower Corentyne Secondary School, in Constituency Six, Rose Hall North East is expecting to have a total of 486 persons casting their votes there. When DPI visited the polling station this morning, a crowd was seen queued to cast their votes.

Godwyn Allicock, Regional Sports Officer, Region Six, East Berbice-Corentyne encouraged other residents to go out and cast their vote.

At the polling station in Rose Hall Nursery School in Constituency One, Williamsburg North, Presiding Officer Goy Romain is expecting a total of 473 persons turn out to vote.
