Scheduled power outage for Good Hope to Enmore on Saturday

The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) has said communities from Enmore to Good Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) are scheduled for maintenance works from 09:00 hours to 14:00 hours on Saturday.

This was disclosed by Line Superintendent, Mr. Colin Trotman on Friday.

Mr. Trotman said the power outage is expected to affect approximately 2,000 customers “between Enmore to Good Hope along the railway embankment corridor and north to the public road… The works entail the replacing of poles, all wooden products that GPL use to support its network.

We will be dealing with the replacing of defective switches; we will be doing some pole plumbing; we will be doing some revetment works around these structures and we will also be doing the replacing of other products, other composite products that GPL use to support its network.”

He said the maintenance work is to ensure reliable electricity supply.

“These works basically are common to us. We take them periodically during the year, so that we can have the structures well maintained and not collapsing along this route,” he explained.

The team will be conducting routine inspections along the route as it seeks to complete its scope of work.

“We do a checklist at the end of the job to ensure that all aspects of the works are covered,” Mr. Trotman said.

The GPL official said there are no other planned outages for that circuit for the next five months.
