Seven new COIVD cases  – total now 327

—Seven more recoveries

The Ministry of Public Health has reported that number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has increased to 327, after seven more persons tested positive for the virus.

The Ministry is also reporting some good news, seven persons have recuperated from COVID-related illness taking the total number of recoveries to 163. Deaths remain at 19.

There are 145 active cases in isolation at various facilities across Guyana and 13 persons in institutional quarantine. The COVID-19 ICU is currently housing five patients.

To date, 3,603 tests have been conducted with 3,276 yielding negative results.

Citizens are reminded to continue practising social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out.

The WHO is reporting that as of July 18, globally positive cases stand at 13,876,441 with 593,087 deaths. While in the Regions of the Americas, positive cases now stand at 7,306,371 with a total of 302,508 deaths.
