Seven new COVID cases

The Ministry of Public Health has reported that there are seven new COVID-19 cases after thirty-six tests were conducted within the last 24 hours. In all the number of confirmed cases now stands at 285.

As of July 7, 2020, the country has registered 125 recoveries after four more persons have recuperated from COVID-related illnesses. There have been 16 deaths registered.

There are currently 143 active cases in isolation at various facilities across Guyana and 19 persons in institutional quarantine. The COVID-19 ICU is currently housing 11 patients.

To date, 2,926 tests have been conducted with 2,642 of those being negative.

Persons are again reminded to continue practising social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out.

As of July 7, 2020, the WHO is reporting that globally the confirmed cases stand at 11,500,302 with 535,759 deaths. While in the Regions of the Americas, positive cases now stand at 5,915,551 with a total of 266,736 deaths.
