Singapore-based Dyna-Mac to work on topside modules for Liza Unity FPSO

Liza Unity will be designed to produce 220,000 barrels of oil per day

Dyna-Mac, a company which is headquartered in Singapore with its presence in the Philippines, China and Brazil, will be working on the topside modules for Liza Unity floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) for ExxonMobil’s second development offshore Guyana.

The topside modules would enable a FPSO to function as designed, mainly to process, store and offload hydrocarbons in an offshore environment.

According to an article published by the local online oil news outfit, OilNOW, it was confirmed that Dyna-Mac would be carrying out the fabrication of the topside modules for the Liza Unity. This comes just after US oil-giant ExxonMobil announced sanctioning of the Liza Phase 2 development and SBM Offshore confirmed the award of the contract to construct, install, lease and operate the floater for up to two years.

The OilNOW report revealed that Dyna-Mac beat off competition from other yards to acquire the repeat order from SBM for the Liza Unity topsides. The article stated that the hull for the Liza Unity is being built at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in China and is based on SBM’s Fast4Ward design.

The Liza Unity will be designed to produce 220,000 barrels of oil per day with associated gas treatment capacity of 400 million cubic feet per day and water injection capacity of 250,000 barrels per day. The FPSO vessel will be moored in a water depth of about 1,600 meters and will be able to store around 2 million barrels of crude oil.

The Stabroek Block is 26,800 square kilometres. The current discovered recoverable resources are estimated at more than 5 billion barrels of oil equivalent. The 13 discoveries on the block to date have established the potential for at least five FPSO vessels producing more than 750,000 barrels of oil per day by 2025.
