DPI, Guyana, Sunday, October 14, 2018

Oftentimes, being a pet owner, while working a fulltime job can be overwhelming; and properly caring for them can pose as a challenge. Well, with the help of Guyana’s pet grooming store – Pawsome Pets, many owners are being relieved of the hassle in pampering their animals.Offering more than just grooming pets with her pet supply store.

Owner and Head Groomer of Pawsome Pets, Luana Pierre has been caring for different animals for more than ten years. “It is surprising that people think it is only for the fancy dogs, but we do the common breed. I would say people should allow somebody else to handle their dogs because we can see and feel anything that is strange or abnormal.”

With her two-year-old new establishment on Brickdam and Austin Place, Georgetown, many pet owners have flocked Pierre’s business since its opening. “For the week, we probably would see maybe 25 or more animals coming in; especially on Saturdays when we have the rush and then we have to turn back some people because its then people have the time and they realise their animals need an upkeep.”

While walk-in clients are accepted, Pierre advises pet owners to make appointments to secure spots. This can be done through the business’s website www.pawsomepetsgy.com or on its facebook page ‘Pawsome Pets-Guyana’ or through the store’s number 592-501-0619.

The Pawsome Pets operation offers a number of packages to suit pet owners. The price for grooming a pet depends on the nature of the animal. Grooming takes from one to two hours.
Pierre said, “We have different packages. You can get a Pawsome Executive which includes a bath, haircut, clean the ears, trim the nails and so; or a bath alone or a haircut. It depends on what you want.”

With three full-time staff and two part-time workers, the head groomer encourages pet owners to treat their animals to a makeover.

“We love animals and we are hoping that more and more people would bring their pet in and give them a pampering. Even if it is just once a month or once every six months; just bring them in for a bath and a pamper and let them smell good. The dogs, they like it because when they leave they are all excited and happy. And we give them bandanas and a bow when they are finished, if it’s a boy we give them a bandana and if it’s a girl we give her a bow,” Pierre said.

The Pawsome Pets owner indicated plans to expand her business with added services in the future.
