Small Business in Focus…Mosa’s canvas is her client’s face

DPI, Guyana, Saturday, August 18, 2018

In this week’s Small Business Focus, we go in-house to makeup artist and producer at the Department of Public Information (DPI), Mosa Henry.

She is behind the face seen on the agency’s weekly Info Hub report. “I am the person who is behind the scenes of Natasha Smith. I do the makeup, the wardrobe and the hairstyle every single day.”

She explains that working at DPI is an enjoyable experience since she has a passion for the job. “It makes me feel proud considering where I came from to where I am now, and I am grateful for the opportunity. I get to do everything I love every single day. I try to do a lot of simple looks. Simple, nude but yet effective looks. I tend to do a natural look because it’s television and there is a different lighting. You do not want to do bold and dramatic, it doesn’t work.”

Working along with Mosa for over a year, Info Hub’s Presenter Natasha Smith says, “I appreciate the work she does with me. I do not know what I would do without her literally; because of two reasons. I am not a beautician nor am I a fashionista. So, the look persons see on television is the look she gives me every day. I really appreciate that.”

Hailing from the Buxton/Friendship village, Mosa says being a makeup artist was not in her plans, now having been in the field for over five years, Henry also operates her own business “Sunkissed Artistry”.

She said, “Sunkissed Artistry specializes in makeup for all occasions, apart from that I specialise in manicure, pedicure, body massage and facials. I hold classes every week. I am doing a beginner’s course class which is for persons who do not know how to apply makeup; because a lot of persons still do not know what foundation to use and how to apply it, or eyeshadows and the likes.”

Going forward, Mosa says she is yet to unlock her true potential by reaching her main goal. “In the next five years, I see myself growing and expanding my business. I do want to open my own Sunkissed Spa and my own Sunkissed Artistry Makeup School. There are so many things I am yet to achieve.”

Mosa can be contacted on her Facebook and Instagram pages or can be reached at Lot 700 East Ruimveldt Front Road, Mandela Entrance, Georgetown.
