As part of the Ministry of Social Protection’s quest to give back to the less fortunate during this festive season, Minister Amna Ally distributed hampers to persons of the Muslim faith in Guyana.

Today at the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) at Wolford Avenue, the minister distributed the hampers to families, single mothers and persons living with disabilities.

“As the Minister of Social Protection, I deem it necessary to assist those less fortunate, that is why we are hosting this drive at this time,” Minister Ally said.

One of the recipients, Yusuf Hamza told the Department of Public Information (DPI) that he is grateful for the assistance, and urged the minister to continue supporting families in need.

The minister continued her hamper distribution in South Ruimveldt Park, at the Franklin Talbot Memorial A.M.E. Church. Minister Ally said while this day is dedicated to giving back to senior citizens and religious organisations for their contribution to the country’s development, it is also about spreading love, happiness and joy via hampers to persons in need.

“We are very happy to give you these tokens because we want you to have a good Christmas… So, on the behalf of the President and First Lady Mrs. Sandra Granger and the Ministers of Government, I wish you a Merry Christmas,” Minister Ally said.

The Social Protection Minister also distributed hampers in the communities of Kitty, Sophia and Meten-Meer-Zorg on the West Coast of Demerara.
