Start your Engines!! – CMRC is back with big competitors

As the final leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) dubbed ‘IGNITE’ approaches, Treasurer, Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) Hansraj Persaud said that the two-day event is set to attract a large gathering of dedicated race fans.

“…motor racing and sports tourism in Guyana is probably second to none because of its uniqueness. It creates such a buzz that various teams come from all over the world so that they come here to participate in the championship while taking some time to explore the beauty of Guyana,” Persaud said.

The GMR&SC Treasurer was speaking at a Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) press briefing held at the Roraima Duke Lodge on Friday last. Persaud noted that events that are undertaken by the GMR&SC complement THAG’s agenda to promote Guyana, as a tourism destination.

The race meet will roar off on November 10-11 at the South Dakota Circuit. Persaud stressed that the agency expects racers from the US, Canada, Barbados, T&T, Jamaica, Suriname along with local contenders to compete for various group championship.

Among the local competitors is Mark Vieira, defending Group Four champion; Andrew King, Danny Persaud, Calvin Ming, Rupee Shewjattan, Rameez Mohamed, Chet Singh, Shiraz Roshandin, Matthew Vieira, Raviero Tucker, Team Mohamed’s (Superbike champions), Kevin Deodass, Anand Ramchand and Adrian Fernandes.

The Treasurer said that they will continue to forge better partnerships this year and beyond, to maximize the sport’s benefit and development.

The GMR&SC is currently partnering with ExxonMobil, GBTI, B.M. Soat, Noble House Seafoods, STAG Beer, Air Services Limited, GUYOIL, Palm Court, Hand-in-Hand, Ramada Hotel, Survival Supermarket, Club 704, Sheriff Security, EC Investments, Prem’s Electrical, Nexus Machinery, Mohamed’s Enterprise, Choke Gas Station, Japarts, R. Kissoon Contracting, E Networks, Miracle Optical, Bikers’ Bar, Samaroo Investments, Innovations America and SuperBet, Agriparts, Mobil1 and KGM Security Service, and the Department of Tourism within the Ministry of Business.
