Stewartville residents to benefit from rebuilt road – a regional administration initiative

DPI, GUYANA, Tuesday, March 27, 2018

Residents in the Stewartville community of Sera Lodge will soon benefit from the rehabilitation of one of the main roads into an asphaltic concrete structure. The ongoing work on the 130m stretch of road has been budgeted at $4.3M and is expected to be completed by mid-April.

This was revealed by Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) Regional Executive Officer (REO), Denis Jaikaran during an interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI).

Jaikaran explained that this initiative, which is one of many scheduled by his administration, began shortly following a visit to the Sear Lodge to evaluate the condition of the roads. While there, the REO spoke to residents who highlighted their discomfort as it related to the poor egress and ingress to the area.

According to Jaikaran, with the new road, residents can be assured of “safe and proper” accessibility entering and leaving Sera Lodge.

The region was allocated $5.050B in the 2018 National Budget of which $65.500M was dedicated to Public Works.

The REO stressed that his administration will continue to push for the improvement and development of the region for its residents with the assistance of its local organs.
