Success of the region lies with the people – RC Pomeroon-Supenaam

– Essequibo Night Expo 2018 launched

DPI, Guyana, Saturday, October 27, 2018.

“Your RDC is fully aware that the power of the people is strong, we are all stakeholders in the development agenda of Region Two, Pomeroon-Supenaam and by extension this beautiful country Guyana. All successes to the region and its people depend on the people.”

This was the declaration by Regional Chairman Devanand Ramdatt at the opening ceremony of the Essequibo Night Expo last evening. Ramdatt noted that despite differences, residents must begin to see themselves as contributors to their community and country at large.

He urged those in attendance to use the two-day exposition as an opportunity to find innovative ways to attract investors and market the region since the show is considered the largest annual activity in the region’s calendar. Ramdatt commended the local investors for having confidence in the region and contributing to the expo.

The exposition featured approximately 100 small and well-established businesses showcasing their services of technology, beverages, food, agriculture, consultancy, financial, household among others.  Together with local vendors, some of the larger exhibitors included Massy Industries Limited, Imam Bacchus and Sons Ltd., Sueria Manufacturing Inc, University of Guyana, Guyana School of Agriculture, Guyana Rice Development Board, Ministry of Agriculture; Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NARIE) among others.

There was also quite a large turnout of diverse groups of people participating in the activities, visiting the booths, purchasing, enquiring and learning about the services offered. Some even remarked that the expo was the best that has been held thus far and many anticipated a larger crowd tonight since the second and final night of the two-expo usually attracts more visitors.

The Essequibo Night Expo, organised by the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) ends today October 27 and will be reviewed by the RDC to investigate its impact to ensure that it points to meaningful development in the region.  According to the regional chair, the RDC plans to pursue avenues to construct a community project from the funds of the expo. This project would be one which intends to create tremendous positive impacts for youths and areas for sport and cultural development.
