The transformation is evident – PM tells Blairmont

Prime Minister Hon Moses Nagamootoo, last evening, told residents of Blairmont on the West Bank of Berbice the development wrought by the Coalition Government is evident for all to see.
“Blairmont, you can see the modernization in the country,” the Prime Minister stated.
He cited improvements to the security sector such as the installation of intelligence surveillance cameras strategically across the capital city as part of the Safe City System; capacity building of the force through police officer training, construction of 15 new police stations and outposts; addition of 338 vehicles to the Police Force’s fleet; moves to tackle piracy on Guyana’s waters among other measures.
Infrastructure the Prime Minister noted has also seen a sweeping change. Most notable is the $473M asphalt road constructed in Lethem; the Manari bypass road in Region 9; $100Million Bridge for Moruca; a new sea defence in Leguan; the rehabilitation of the East Bank Berbice road and installation of LED lights in communities across the country.
The upgrade and construction of several schools across the country was another key development. And in the education sector the implementation of the 5Bs initiative which provides free transportation, hot meals and books resulted in a vast improvement in attendance and academic performance of the students.
Citing the recently commissioned Technical Institute in Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo, Prime Minster Nagamootoo noted that young people also benefited from several initiatives. These programmes have taught them essential skills to manage business ventures or to enter the world of work.
Most importantly he pointed to the fact the Coalition government added a five percent growth to Guyana’s economy, improved wages for public sector workers; increased pensions and reduced the toll to cross the Berbice River Bridge.
Crediting His Excellency President David Granger for the stable, orderly and progressive developments in Guyana, Prime Minister Nagamootoo urged the Blairmont residents to choose leaders with the best plan and the broader vision for Guyana.
