Three more recover from COVID-19

—1,618 tests conducted to date

Three more persons have recovered from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) taking the total number of recoveries to 70.

The Ministry of Public Health is also reporting that they have recovered another positive case of the virus, which now sees the country registering 153 confirmed cases. This is inclusive of 12 deaths and the 70 recoveries.

To date, 1, 618 tests have been conducted yielding 1,465 negative results.

There are currently 71 active cases in isolation at various facilities across Guyana while 2 patients remain in the COVID-19 ICU at the GPHC.  Twenty-four persons are also in institutional quarantine.

Citizens are asked to always practice social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out.

Meanwhile, the WHO has reported that globally the number of confirmed cases stands at 5,817,385 confirmed cases with 362,705 deaths while in the Region of the Americas the total number of positive cases is 2,743,793 with deaths climbing to 157,702.
