Tourism Minister engages GTA Board

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Hon. Oneidge Walrond, today met virtually with the Board of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA).

Today’s meeting was a familiarisation exercise, but also focused on the strategic direction of the GTA – the agency tasked with the implementation of policy decisions for the Tourism Sector.

The GTA Board is chaired by Director-General of the Department of Tourism, Donald Sinclair, and includes Andrea DeCaires as his deputy, and Director of the GTA, Carla James. The other board members are Mitra Ramkumar, Nicole Correia, Capt. Egbert Field, Shaun McGrath, Jackie Allicock, Ladonna Kissoon, and Imran Baksh.

Minister Walrond is also actively involved in preparing the Ministry’s proposals for the upcoming National Budget presentation. She is currently working from home after testing positive for COVID-19, on Thursday.
