Treasury Memorandum shows gross mismanagement of public accounts under PPP – Min. Harmon

DPI, GUYANA, Friday, June 8, 2018

A Treasury Memorandum submitted to the Cabinet by Minister of Finance Winston Jordan shows gross mismanagement of public accounts under the PPP administration during the years 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Minister of State, Joseph Harmon.

This was revealed by Minister of State, Joseph Harmon during a post-Cabinet press conference, today.

The Memorandum was completed in response to queries by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) about state spending in every administrative region over that period.

According to Minister Harmon, “Cabinet also noted the conclusions of the report which stated that there was excessive waste and mismanagement of the public resources.”

Further, he noted that there was lack of financial transparency, accountability and full compliance with the Fiscal Management and Accountability Act, the Audit Act and the Procurement Act.

Minister Harmon said the report provided some of the most detailed responses by the Government in over 20 years and commended the ministry of Finance for its efforts.
