Tullow Guyana, Caribbean Surgery Inc. partner to support local COVID-19 fight

DPI, Guyana, Saturday, June 6, 2020

As the fight to stop the transmission of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues, countries across the globe have advocated for the use of face masks as one of the ways to protect and stop the spread of the virus.

In Guyana the Ministry of Public Health’s efforts have received support from several stakeholders; the most being Tullow Guyana.

In a press release issued today, Tullow Guyana stated that they have partnered with Caribbean Surgery Incorporated (CSI) to sponsor the procurement of 10,000 cloth masks for free distribution at central hubs in Georgetown.

The dispatch also said Tullow Guyana and CSI have contracted local manufacturers to make the masks, that will be reusable and come in a variety of sizes for children and adults.

The company’s Country Manager, Joachim Vogt noted: “Tullow has linked arms with stakeholders to help fight and reduce the spread of COVID-19. We recognise that in the face of a very large problem, it is important even to take small steps in the right direction. No effort is too small at this juncture.”

To ensure the cost-free masks are available to the general public, CSI will be organising and heading the distribution in bus parks, market places and communities.
