UG receives donation of environmental ethics books from the WWF
—Promoting a harmonious future for humans and nature

Earlier today, the University of Guyana (UG) received a gift of books from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) during a handing over ceremony via a Zoom meeting.
This generous donation of volumes representing environmental ethics is expected to have a powerful impact as it offers the enhancement of knowledge for the benefit of humankind and the natural environment.
Recently-appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Guyana, Professor Paloma Mohamed-Martin, highlighted that UG’s Natural Sciences and Earth and Environmental Sciences departments will pursue goals in social and environmental justice.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the university will serve as a model and problem solver for the nation.
She further disclosed that the aim is to plot and create a thought-leadership plan for the country. “We want to produce students who are not only technically proficient but can also work towards being the future of the country.”
Country Manager for WWF Guianas, Aiesha Williams, related that the organisation operates on social principles and policies in its efforts to cease environmental degradation while promoting a harmonious future for humans and nature.
Williams noted that WWF is in the process of expanding its programme to progress and continue engagement in social and environmental justice.
Environmental Justice as Social Work Practice, What Is Critical Environmental Justice, Ethics and the Environment are a few of the books which were donated by the WWF.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic Engagement, Professor Michael E. Scott, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, Dr. Troy Thomas, Dean Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Lecturer for the Natural Sciences Department, Tameka King, all joined in thanking WWF for its generosity during the webinar.
