Scores of Windsor Forest residents will soon be able to have more sustainable water connections.

Sitting on the West Coast of Demerara is the small rapidly growing community of Windsor Forest. The village is home to scores of rice and cash crop farmers who turned out to a community engagement with Minister of Communities, Hon. Ronald Bulkan and His Worship the Mayor of Georgetown, Pandit Ubraj Narine.

The meeting saw fruitful conversations about matters of concern for residents including personal lease matters, repair of roads, improved water connectivity and sanitation at the Utivulgt Secondary School.

Also, in attendance were officials from GWI who committed to addressing the residents’ concern of “low water pressure”. It was pointed out this was a recent occurrence in the community. The residents were assured that the issue will be dealt with soon.

Residents were happy to have a forum to air their concerns and to have access to the government officials, something which they said was a first for them.

One resident, Fizul Latchman, said that he was pleased with the minister’s visit and response. “I happy that this happened. We had a lot of things to say, and Minister Bulkan listened, and he gave us solutions,” Latchman said.

Minister Bulkan urged the residents to understand the importance of unity and destroying prejudiced ideologies to create the ‘better Guyana’ where they would want their children to live.

He further added that Guyana is finally at a place where growth is taking place, and people now have restored confidence in Guyana’s development.
