DPI, GUYANA, Friday, March 9, 2018

Collaboration is the Key, that is what takes you further faster”. This was the advice shared by local designer Sonia Noel at a press conference to announce the hosting of the Third Annual ‘Women in Business Expo’.

The event is a collaborative effort between the Sonia Noel Foundation for Creative Arts (SNFCA) and the Women’s Association for Sustainable Development.

“We have so many success stories and I’m thinking this year there’s going to be even more because what we actually intend to do is to have it as a forum, that investors can actually come and see possibilities,” Noel remarked.

According to Noel, the expo will focus on small businesses with the aims of allowing persons to gradually increase their operations into medium, large then eventually conglomerates. She noted that this can only be achieved through investment and partnerships.

“What I love is that the women are looking at each other and seeing who is doing what and saying we can partner to do this, and I am really loving that”, Noel declared.

Also present was Harmony Inn and Secret Ville Apartments sponsor representative Caroline Caesar Murray who observed that the expo is achieving the Sustainable Development Goal of women’s empowerment.

“This event ‘Women in Business’, speaks to the Sustainable Development Goal where we seek to empower women through multiple avenues showcasing their services,” Murray said adding that “Women are contributing positively to nation building by offering their services and employment,” applaud the event and  pointed out that “when you invest in women, women invest in their families and families invest in the nation so we see it (the expo) as a wise investment,”  she explained.

International number one bestselling author Hilda Bourne, who will also be making a presentation at the “Inspire You” segment of the expo, also expressed her delight in the event.

“I’m happy to be here this year for ‘Inspire You’ because that’s what exactly we are going to do. That’s our goal and our purpose, which is helping you find your dream and helping you get to your purpose,” Bourne stated

Saint Lucian Dr. Jacquie Evans noted, “The idea of collaboration and the idea of iron sharpening iron is a very good one.” “As young business individuals, you must develop that connection, we have to listen to that inner voice inside of us and be bold,” she added.

The exhibition at Pegasus Hotel on March 10-11 will include a Health, Business and Technology Forum, a Charting Your Course and ‘Inspire You’ events, an evening with Sherry Dixon, a Tea Party and Fashion Show, Book Signing, Leadership Conference. There will also be a motivational session at the Berbice Prison.
